James "Jim" was born 2 Apr 1902 in Austin, TX, to Sam L. & Mary Tanner Horne. He married Opal Tanner in Weatherford, TX, on 28 Feb 1924. Opal was born 9 Apr 1907 to Charles & Emma Tanner. She was named 'Oklahoma' since the state was added to the union that year. She changed it to Opal when she started school. They raised 6 children: James Earl, Elenor Geraldine, Helen Rose, Mary Ruth, Jackie Ray & Betty Joyce. Jim & Opal are buried in the Snyder, OK, cemetery.
