George Thompson and Ruby East Thompson are the parents of George David Thompson and the grandparents of Valerie Thompson Russell, Cheryl Thompson and Amber Thompson Meilahn. Ruby East (1907–1968) was the daughter of Hugh and Mary Josephine Lewis East. Ruby graduated from Sparks Memorial Hospital Nursing School and moved to Wewoka, Oklahoma, where she met George W. Thompson when he was brought to the doctor's. office with a leg injury from an oilfield accident. They were married in Wewoka in 1933.
