Based on Royce's "Indian Land Cessions" (Bureau of American Ethnology, 1896-1897) and other sources of information available in the Department of the Interior, showing aboriginal titles recognized by the Federal Government through formal agreements of cession or otherwise (in areas numbered 51, 53, 63-66.) Overlapping claims and claims too small for distinct demarcation are not shown, and all boundaries should be regarded as mearly approximate. The foregoing tribes are listed in the order in which land cessions were effected. Tribes which made no cessions to the Federal Government are not included. The principal areas reserved from cession or receded to Indian tribes and commonly referred to as Indian reservations are shown thus.
