Item 9. 13 June 1932. ALS. Letter (typewritten) from S. W. Beyer, Assistant, on American Anthropologist letterhead to Dr. Ohland Morton, Eastern Oklahoma College, Wilburton, Oklahoma. Refers to Dr. [Robert H.] Lowie [editor] and Mr. [E. W.] Gifford [associate editor] and use of map in connection with paper. 1 page. 8.50 x 11 inches. Condition: Good.
Item 10. Undated, but apparently copy of map of Creek Nation probably referred to in the above letter. Comments on bottom of map, This map is taken from Volume II, Part 2 of Memoirs of the American Anthropological Association entitled, The Creek Indians of Taskigi Town, by Frank G. Speck. Used by permission. 1 page. 9.50 x 11.25 inches. Condition: Good, edges are tattered and stain in upper left corner.
Item 11. Undated, but referred to in Documents 98.28.9, 98.28.12 and 98.28.13. Manuscript (typed), Some Facts Regarding the Creek Towns in Indian Territory, by Ohland Morton, Eastern Oklahoma College, Wilburton, Oklahoma. Mentions previous articles in The Chronicles of Oklahoma; lists Upper Creek, Lower Creek and Hitchiti towns. Some remarks have been lined through and handwritten entries are present. The last page is a list of forty-four towns compiled by Mrs. D. B. Childers of Broken Arrow, who states the Rev. Sam J. Haynes asked her to furnish the names. Haynes was the last presiding officer of the House of Kings and that she was the only woman that ever held the Secretary's position in that office during tribal existence. 8.50 x 11 inches. Condition: Good, some discoloration.
Item 12. 22 May 1934. ALS. Letter (typewritten) from John R. Swanton on Smithsonian Institution, Bureau of American Ethnology, Washington, D. C. letterhead to Mr. Grant Foreman, Secretary of the Oklahoma Historical Society. Apparently returning the manuscript [98.28.10] with some comments on content of article. 1 page. 8.50 x 11 inches. Condition: Good, portion of upper left corner is missing.
Item 13. 24 May 1934. ALS. Letter (typewritten) from Dan W. Perry, Secretary, Oklahoma Historical Society (on Historical Society letterhead) to Dr. Grant Foreman, 1419 West Okmulgee Ave., Muskogee, Oklahoma. Advising he has just received letter from John Swanton returning the Morton article and suggesting if changes could be made it could be published in the June issue. Mentions George Evans. 1 page. 8.50 x 11 inches. Condition: Good.
