Humphreys/Anderson Family Genealogy
The Anderson family were early settlers in southern Oklahoma. Leonidas Polk Anderson purchased land Grants from the CC Nation in 1902 and was an early settler in Ardmore, OK from Texas. The Anderson’s started one of the first banks in the state of Oklahoma in 1899. The First National Bank of Oklahoma. It is still in business today, and L. P. Anderson was the president. L. P. Anderson designed and built the family home at 304 C. Street SW in Ardmore with architect J. B. White. It was completed in 1918 and was in the Prairie School design.
Davis/Nabors Family Genealogy
The Davis family are original Oklahoma Sooners rushing land in the northern part of the state and settling in Agra, OK. Dona Nabors was instrumental in establishing the First Baptist Church of Skiatook in 1912. The church building was completed in 1918. Revis Davis opened the Spot Cash Grocery in 1913 on Main Street in Skiatook, and the name was changed to Nabors Cash Grocery sometime between 1914 and 1921. In 1921 a biography of Revis Nabors was published in the book Skiatook 1872-1921. In 1930 Revis and Dona owned Dad’s Café at 114 Main Street in Skiatook.
Ivan Davis was a 1921 graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a pharmacy degree. He was a pharmacist until his death. Ivan married Ruth Nabors. The Nabors family started the first meat market/restaurant in Skiatook, OK.
Rex Davis was the first Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) established in 1972.
