Research Archives and Collections
At the Research Center, you can view the largest collection of Oklahoma newspapers in the state, dating from territorial days to the present. Newspapers are a rich resource for birth, marriage, and death information, but they also help us understand the day-to-day happenings, major events, attitudes, and location in which our ancestors lived.
Thousands of family and county histories are available; many are rare and out of print, and some were donated directly by the author. Although our holdings focus on Oklahoma and the Southwest, the Research Center also has family histories, periodicals, and lineage books for the entire United States.
Manuscript archives include personal papers, letters, and records of Oklahomans. Our photo collections include more than eleven million images. Vertical files are another useful resource and may include news-clippings, ephemera, and articles.
