Colonel Jack L. Treadwell, US Army, Company F, 180th Infantry, 45th Infantry Division was awarded the Medal of Honor for action near Nieder-Wurzbach, Germany on 18 March, 1945.
As commanding officer of Company F, Captain Treadwell single-handedly captured six pill boxes and 18 prisoners, inspiring his company to attack, driving a wedge in the Siegfried line. This set the stage for their battalion to take its objective.
